Shipping Label DesignThe way that your shipping label looks is really dependent on whether you have chosen domestic or international shipping for your parcel, the carrier and the service you want to use.

A CN23 customs declaration form, is automatically generated when you create an international shipment. This form is required for the identification and classification of the parcels contents at international borders, as well as determining its applicable tariffs and duties. Because the CN23 is a legal document, it requires a signature prior to shipping.
Depending on the contents of your parcel and its commodity code classification, you may also have to include a commercial invoice with your shipment. This is not required if the item you are shipping is not classified as a commodity, such as a document or a gift.
Please be aware that these documents are legally required when shipping internationally, and we would advise you to place both of these documents, alongside your shipping labels on the front of your parcels. When attaching you’re labels and documents, it’s important to place them securely on the outside of your package - this way customs shouldn’t have to open your parcels. We recommend using transparent adhesive envelopes to achieve this.
Label SizesAt SendMyParcel.com, we've made it really easy to print your shipping labels - so whether you're using an A4 printer or a thermal A6 printer to print batch or single labels, we've got you covered.
The size of our A4 standard printed label is 841.89 x 595.28 pt // 210 x 297 mm - and you can use most A4 printers to print your shipping labels. You can even choose where to start your printing, which is great for using up blank label space on a page that you've used before.
The size of our A6 standard printed label is 420.94 x 297.64 pt // 105 x 148 mm - and is mostly used for printing labels with a thermal printer.
Please note, that sometimes you'll need to use an A4 printer to print your commercial invoices and customs declaration forms when shipping internationally, if the carrier has not included this information on the label.
Adding Order NumbersYes, you can add an order number to your labels.
This can be achieved in two ways;
- If you use the SendMyParcel.com integration in your web-shop back office, then it’s possible to automatically fill in your order number when creating your shipping labels.
- If you’re using the system without an integration, then you can do this manually by adding the order number when creating a new shipment.
Recommended PrintersYou can use any type of printer with any type of paper, as long as there is a function to print A6 labels. The most important thing is that all the information on the label (and it's barcode) is clearly visible!
You can use a regular A4 printer to print your labels, which we advise you to do using A4 self adhesive parcel or shipping label paper. We can recommend using Avery A4 Self Adhesive Shipping Labels, or a similar product.
It’s important to make sure that the label paper you use works well with the type of printer you’re using whether it is Inkjet or Laser. Otherwise, it may be difficult for the carrier companies to scan your label, which may result in a surcharge.
Some of our customers also use specialised label printers that print on A6 labels (104mmx159mm). The most commonly used printers are the DYMO LabelWriter 4XL and also the Zebra GK420d Direct Thermal Printer.
If you’re shipping outside of the EU, you will need to print a CN23 customs declaration form and possibly a commercial invoice. These forms are always A4 - so it’s important to be able to print these also. The customs documents can be printed on regular paper, which you can attach to the parcel, alongside your shipping label.
Editing LabelsIt’s quite simple to edit a label, prior to pre-advising the shipment. As long as the label is not pre-advised or downloaded it can still be edited. Just use the pencil icon on the right hand side in the shipment overview.
Once a label is pre-advised/downloaded, this information is sent to the carriers and, after this process it cannot be edited.
Customising LabelsYes, you can customise your shipping labels.
It’s possible to include a 25 character note to the labels of packages you ship on most labels. This can be anything you like from your web address to the customers order number, or even a special note - It really is up to you.
You can also create a default setting which can automatically add the same note to each label. If you use an integration, you can set the system to fill the field with the order number. This can also be done manually.
Deleting LabelsA label can be deleted at any point before it is downloaded/pre-advised.
If the label you wish to delete has not yet been downloaded or pre advised, you can use the waste basket icon on the right hand side in the shipment overview, to delete your unwanted label.
Once a label is pre-advised/downloaded, this information is sent to the carriers and, after this process it cannot be deleted.
